Our History
Resolution Services Center of Central Michigan (RSCCM) has been helping people resolve conflicts peacefully for over three decades.
Timeline of Our Journey
-
1981 - Initially conceived as the Christian Conciliation Services of Central Michigan.
-
1996 – Founded under Michigan’s Community Dispute Resolution Act, RSCCM began offering court-approved alternatives to litigation, focusing on mediation for individuals, families, and organizations.
-
2005 – RSCCM launched Restorative Justice programs, partnering with schools, courts, and community groups to address conflict proactively and reduce disciplinary disparities.
-
Today – RSCCM serves six Central Michigan counties, offering mediation, restorative practices, facilitation, and training to individuals, families, youth, businesses, and institutions. We are one of eighteen agencies funded by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office to provide accessible, affordable dispute resolution.
The Resolution Services Center of Central Michigan (RSCCM) was initially established as the Christian Conciliation Services of Central Michigan in October 1981 and only changed its name to RSCCM in 2008. While mediation has been around since the organization’s inception, the restorative justice (RJ) program was first initiated in Pattengill School in Lansing, MI in 2005.
RSCCM is part of a Michigan legislative directive initiated in 1988 that established all the community dispute resolution centers in Michigan. RSCCM was created as part of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program funded by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO).
