Five judges from the Republic of Kazakhstan, who are visiting the country through the Open World Leadership Center/Open World Program, visited with staff and volunteers of Resolution Services Center of Central Michigan (RSCCM) in Lansing, Mich. on October 24, 2019.
As part of their Michigan tour to learn more about Judicial Law, the delegation included a meeting with RSCCM to learn more about mediation and restorative justice. Throughout the meeting the judges eagerly sought information regarding how the processes are implemented in Michigan; what types of cases are appropriate for mediation and how the processes intersect with our court proceedings.
The five judges, along with a representative of the Kazakhstan Ambassador, during their eight-day tour visited the Center and also met with Central Michigan University’s International Relations students; Hon. Stuart Black, Probate Judge, Isabella County Trial Court; Hon. Chief Judge Denise Page Hood, U.S. District Court; Chief Justice Bridget McCormack, Michigan Supreme Court; and the ACLU of Michigan.
Dr. David Jesuit, Chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Central Michigan University hosted the delegation to provide a hands-on experience to a variety of judicial law.
